Post Where can I purchase Tool # 9116 ?

Where can I purchase Special Tool 9116 (I believe that is it) for centering the steering rack during alignments?

In addition, is it more than a simple bolt?

TIA

I am sure a porsche dealership can hook you up. As for what it is or how to use it. I have no clue.

You can use a proper sized bolt and a ball bearing instead of the special bolt. The rack shaft has a dimple than will can be seen when the rack is fully centered (and inspection bolt removed).

Good Luck!

Skip - think if I taper a bolt (like in the shift linkage), It will suffice?

I am wanting to center the rack so I can remove and reorient the steering wheel. I've just re-installed the rack (after bearings/head job) and want to line the wheel/rack up before an alignment shop gets it...

Should be able to use a tapered bolt, very similar to the recess for the shift linkage.
