odd part that i'm looking for is the rear "944" badge. just needs to be intact.

Guessing a heat gun can remove it?

Heat it up a little (putting the gun on high can damage it) and use some fishing line. It will come right off.

agreed, a little heat will loosen the adhesive enough for the badge to be removed.
