Question Hatch Pins?

Friends,

My hatch pins are worn and the knurls no longer hold like they used to. So they tend to back out over time. I find it quite difficult to get them re-installed with two people and nearly impossible to re-install them alone, not to mention, swinging a hammer around expensive glass always makes me nervous. I would try a lock-tite or similar, but I do not feel that I could actually get any into the hinge... rather tight fit. Any solutions or good techniques to re-installing them?

THX,

Remove the pin, drill a small pilot hole in the hinge, tap it, put the pin back in, and put an allen/set-screw in the tapped hole to serve as a "locking screw".

I'm not quite sure why Porsche didn't do this from the factory. I've seen many other mechanical examples of this same method on other vehicles and industrial applications.

Thumbs up

Great solution Greg... wish I had thought of that. Simple yet effective. Anyone have thoughts on the easiest way to get the pins in?
