Default FS: 1987 924S

I am listing my 1987 Porsche 924S for sale, asking $2900 or best offer. The car has a little over 140k miles on it, and I have a 3" thick stack of receipts from work performed over the past 7 years I have owned the car. I have some pictures of the car below, and I am happy to provide more or arrange viewing of the car for anyone who is interested.

I'm going to provide some more info on the car here, but please send me a PM or an email (mhart1119 AT gmail DOT com) with any questions, and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Highlights of the car:

- Straight non-sunroof body fitted with OEM european-spec bumpers. No cruise control or rear wiper - this car was spec'd out as a lightweight car back in 1987 and I have tried to stay true to that
- Engine completely rebuilt in 2010, very low mileage since then
- Transmission has the short 5th gear and shifts smoothly
- Suspension, wheels, tires, brakes upgraded for use in PCA Driver's Ed events. The car is stable and predictable on the track without being harsh on the road. Here is the car loaded up for a recent Metro NY DE event - the car was comfortable on the 150 mile drive down, kept up with modern Porsches on the track, and had no problem storing a weekend's worth of luggage and track gear.

Notable work done on the car, in chronological order and skipping a lot of details, includes:

- Clutch replaced (08/06, 132k miles)
- Momo seats, sliders, and steering wheel installed, including fire extinguisher mount (09/06)
- Brown interior replaced with black interior, including brand new custom non-sunroof headliner (04/07)
- Install 944 turbo exterior door latches (05/07)
- Koni shocks, 951 S sway bars, and Hawk brake pads installed (04/07)
- Windshield replaced (06/07)
- Replace lifters, install powdercoated cam cover (10/07)
- Replace coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder, brake reservoir (05/08)
- Install european bumpers, front and rear (10/08)
- Install stainless braided fuel lines, Lindsey Racing billet aluminum fuel rail, new injectors, and fuel damper (10/08)
- Install powdercoated intake manifold and throttle body (10/08)
- Replace all rubber fuel lines at fuel tank, including new fuel filter (02/10)
- Rebuild engine - new rings, bearings, seals, gaskets, valves, valve guides, AFM, and more (04/10 134k miles)
- Install stainless braided brake lines (09/10)
- Rebuild axles, adjust timing belts (03/11 136k miles)
- Replace DME relay (04/11)
- Replace A/C compresor, upgrade to R134a (08/11)
- Replace front lower control arms, alignment (08/11)
- Install Dansk muffler, straight pipe, and good condition factory headers (10/11)
- Install Continental Extreme Contact DW tires (03/12 139k miles)
- Replace reference sensors, reference sensor wires, and rebuild DME (05/12)
- Repair minor accident damage from low-speed rear end impact, replace rear bumper (09/12)
- Install Blaupunkt Stereo w/ iPhone control (12/12)
- Replace rollers, check timing belt, replace water pump gasket, flush brake fluid (03/13)

I don't want to add up all those receipts, but the car got a lot of compliments from people who saw it or rode in it.

Unfortunately, the car suffered an engine fire during my last DE event at NJMP. My mechanic has said that the engine still has oil in it and spins freely, so I believe the mechanicals are good, but the plastic components and wiring under the hood are ruined. Also, the fire crew did some damage to the hood and badge panel in fighting the fire. Fortunately, the damage is largely limited, so almost all of the other parts in the car are in great shape. The non-sunroof body would be a great candidate for a 944 spec racer, or the car could be repaired and driven as a weekend fun car.

I am valuing the car as the sum of the values of some of the major components (engine short block, cylinder head, euro bumpers, exhaust, body shell, etc.). I'm happy to provide more info on how I came up with my number, and I am open to offers - the worst I can say is no.

Thanks for reading!

Also, I forgot to mention - the car is located in the NYC metro area but I would be happy to help coordinate logistics for buyers from farther away

Sad to see such a well sorted and rare car possibly leave the forums.
From another 924S owner, GLWS!

Thanks! With any luck, we can find someone on the forums who wants the car, so hopefully it will stay on the forums.

I'm open to offers

Beautiful car. I was looking for a white non-sunroof 924 earlier this year but I recently settled on something else. I hope it goes to someone who appreciates it and can fix it.

GLWS!

A bump for the thread, and an offer for anyone that might buy this car. I have a complete engine bay harness from my 87 924S that can be used to fix this car. Mine was a no Cruise control car as well and everything worked when the car was hit and then driven to its parting spot.

PM if interested.

Bump...I'm dropping the asking price to $3300 as well.

It won't take a lot to get this car back on the road as a street car or prepped for 944 spec racing.

EBay Listing
Good price for a good looking car. Would make someone a great second car or first car. GLWS. Hope the new owner will intro themselves here.

Thanks! Don't let driving the car on campus stop you - I actually bought the car while I was still in school, so it would be almost poetic for you to fix it up and drive around campus in it.

Thanks! I will be sure to mention Rennlist to whoever buys the car (or someone reading this could bid on it!)

The reason I'm looking for a new vehicle is due to the 944 needing attention What all needs to be done to it?
