Post Unknow Part/wire. Does anyone know?

This is a repost of a question I had from the 944 specific forum but no one could answer it. So I was hoping to get some more people to look at it here. Thanks again.

Does anyone know what this part is/does? When I took of my air filter casing to get to my rack and pinion I saw that the wire that is being pointed to with red ink was unpluged.
I plugged it back in and I hope it improves something on my car. But what can I expect?

Thanks guys/gals,
David

Looks like a vacuum solenoid but I can't tell where it's going.

Near as I can tell it is your recirculating solenoid valve.. for the heating system.. one should be brown, the other blue with green stripe. It is not your main heating solenoid. what it does exactly I have no idea. maybe keeps the compartment at a constant temp??? by bypassing the main heating solenoid? so you only get so much hot water to the heater core to maintain temp with no fluctuation.. The most you can expect is a blown fuse if it is bad.. the best is better temp control.. put a meter on it to make sure it is not shorted out. before you put it back together..

That's a air by-pass for air conditioner. Officially I think it's called an auxillary air valve. I't purpose in life is to by-passs a little air around the throttle body, which will kick up the rev's a couple hundred rpm when you turn your air conditioner (or, I believe, your defroster) on.
