Post A little help - Door Stays

My passenger door is friggin HARD to get past the intemediate "stay" or stop. Both opening and closing it takes too much pressure to push it open or pull it closed. I've even worried that my girlfriend will pull the door panel apart pulling the thing closed with both hands. I've lubricated it many different ways. It doens't squeek or make any noise and the door fits the frame fine. As far as I know the car has never been hit. SO....is this the door stay? If so, do I buy the door stay, pin, or the base or all?
The parts are available at Pelican. Any other ideas how to fix or places to buy the parts?

P.S. Where to buy sunroof gears? Not on Pelican or at Paragon that I've found <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

While it could be bent and in need of replacement, the door checks usually suffer from the door-side bolts working loose causing misalignment. You should be able to tell if they are loose by tugging. To get at these, you must remove the lower speaker grill and speaker to create an access point for your hand (the smaller the hands the better, and you may have to remove the whole door panel on later cars with premium sound). There are 2x 6mm(?) Allen bolts that hold the piece in place. If the actuator arm is bent, and you cannot straighten/realign it, then you must replace.

The sunroof gears are now available online, as are the door checks.

Good Luck!

just a little FYI...
Don't use anything but a 6mm (i think) 12 point (the important part) on the bolts holding the door stay base to the car. The 2 bolts holding the door stay to the passanger door are I believe just 6mm internal hex's..

I would recommend tightening all that stuff up before replacing any parts...
