Right Front Tire wobble/hop/shimmy when turning left at speed
Hi all,
I've searched the site for an hour and I haven't found anything like the problem I've got.
I have a '87 951 and some months ago I put in new shocks all around and after I finished I noticed a "clunk" from the right front suspension area as I turned left into my driveway and the right tire hit the joint between the road and my driveway.
As the months have passed things have progressed to where I get a big wobble/hop/shimmy from my front right suspension area when turning left at around 30-50 MPH, especially if there are any little bumps in the road.
I snugged up the right front wheel bearing, but no change.
I've pulled, prodded and poked everything in the front right suspension, but nothing feels/sounds loose.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Andy

Also, make sure your two bolts are tight that hold the bottom of the strut on to the spindle. I bought a 944 once that was acting the same way as you described, and that turned out to be the culprit.

Plus 1 on the ball joint. Mine would clunk in reverse. Finally took a crowbar and got the ball joint to move a couple mm in and out of the socket. Upsetting as I have rebuilt the ball joint only a couple of months before. New a-arm, problem gone. I think the socket must have been damaged and the new wear bits just couldn't make up for it.

Thanks guys, it is the ball joint. I jacked the car up by the side jacking point and took the tire off and really couldn't find much. Then I put a wrench on the tie rod nut to make sure it was tight, and when I cranked on it the whole spindle slopped around like a drunken sailor.
