7,000 RPM Limiter

Most of the chip makers increased the rev limit for those moments when it isn't worth shifting yet and you need to hold out a gear for just a tiny bit longer to save time. None of us actually make power that high without modifications.

Exactly. I know of an early car with a 7k chip that needed it for this exact reason. Stock '84 944 2.5L 0 mods, ran for 4 seasons every weekend, no rebuilds, repairs or failures! This car lived on the rev limiter. I would be hesitant do do it without better rods and springs though, especially with a turbo.

Thanks. Well, I was only asking about the analog tachometer and this became a battle over my rev limiter (which I rarely even go to) and it is useful for auto crossers that benefit from staying in gear longer.

If your car grew 8 more valves I suppose the 7k limiter would make sense.
I swear the S cars should rev to 8500 RPM. You hit 5k and it just ROCKETS to redline. Its crazy and really annoying at the same time. There simply isn't enough time between the rush and redline. I guess thats what turbos are for
Its the one thing I hate about these engine's V8 heritage. Little slower than some of the other 4 bangers out there...
