Default instrument bulb removal

Anyone know how to remove the individual bulb (as shown) without destroying it? It's inside the instrument cluster behind the Battery dial face.

Just pull straight up on the bulb (not the socket), these just have 2 straight pins off the bottom of the bulb.

Well it is if that is the bulb for the warning segment on the dial face (there should be 4 of them in the cluster).

Ok, thanks. I was afraid to "ham fist" this thing. Porsche has done a good job of making their different connectors and bulb installation as strange as a Chinese puzzle.

Yep . I combatted this problem by buying all the new bulbs first, and some extras too - just in case , so that I could see what the approach was.

TexasRider, when you refurbished your cluster, did you use four of these bulbs, plus three 3w bulbs for the light channels? How many little 1.2w bulbs did you need for all the idiot lights?

Those bulbs are kinda difficult to remove. Why not order them with the receptacle? The part number is 2721MF.

I think you need three of the 2721MF bulbs and the rest are 2721 bulbs. And, if you're a dummy like me , it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of extra 2721s: I thought the replacements were bad and promptly tossed them before realizing that the receptacle needs to be re-inserted before the circuit can be completed...

curtisr, are you saying the bulbs we're discussing [with the raised black housing] are part #2721MF, and the rest of the little twist-in 1.2w idiot bulbs are part #2721? Is this an Osram/Sylvania part numbering scheme?
