Or you can just do it yourself? Takes about an hour or two. You have to have a steady hand.

Here are some shots of the wheels/caps my 87 924 (RIP) that my brother helped me paint. The wheels and caps both came out great.

And just for fun...

i used regular paint markers...turned out great! with the markers it doesn't take too long at all and they allow you to have a "not so steady" hand.

i will try and post some pics too if i can find my digi-cam.

good luck!

I painted mine. No problems and they came out great. I used Rust Oleum paint for the Black and Red and Gold Leaf Spray paint for the gold.

1. If the silver color is also faded. Spray paint the cap with a Silver paint (I used some of the paint I had left over from painting the wheels) and let it dry.
2. Using a low adhesive masking tape (blue tape) cover everything but the Porsche emblem.
3. Spray paint the shield with Gold paint. Let it dry.
4. Using a quality small brush (in my case it had a single bristle) paint the different details. Let it dry.
5. Spray the center cap with clear coat or your gold will turn to a different color, believe me, I had to do it twice because I forgot this step. It looked so cool that I could not wait to put them on and forgot to put in the clear coat.

The results are awesome! And you will spend no more that US$10-15.00

Have fun!

I used model paint but I'm sure there are better paints out there to use. My brother is an avid model builder (planes) so we had lots to choose from. Testor I think.

Excellent thread. Not that the "mechanical" threads aren't great too, it's just that we don't seem to spend nearly as much time on restoration, color sanding, detailing and the fun, aethetic aspects of these cars. They have GREAT looking styling.

Incidentally Matt, that is a very nice, clean 924. What spray paint did you use on the wheels? and did use dismount the tires or just mask around them when you painted them? Thanks in advance

Sprewell, did you specify any particular color combination? I noticed that she will customize orders to your preference. (The caps on her website are painted to match a 968 hood crest.)

Sorry fellas didn't see the question.

I used "Aluminum" colored spray paint from the local auto parts store. I didn't use the engine paint for the wheels, just the normal temp paint. Then I used a few coats of the same brand clear coat. I did not pull off the tires, I masked them. It took all day long, but came out good. I haven't done it yet to the 944, I just haven't had the time. My advice: Paint a coat and let it COMPLETELY dry! Don't rush it. Probably 5 or so coats of aluminum and then 3 coats of clear coat. And if you can, remove the tires, masking is a PAIN in the butt.

EDIT:
Here are some inside shots of my first P-car since you seem to enjoy a nice 924!

Matt, I have to tell you, when I first saw the photos it looked like one of the best kept 924 I have seen... so sorry that the car is no longer alive... do you have one after the accident?

Sean I gave her a pic of the ones I wanted the colors like. I wanted them the same colors of my hood badge also on a 968. She did a great job. I highly reccomend her. I would have screwed it up if I tried to do it myself. These arent done with markers like some have spoken about. This looks like a quality job with great paint.
