What can take out old, cracked, dried stone guard glue?
So I was able to scrape all of the stone guards off but the glue is still there. It's dried on, hard, and I don't know what to use to take it off. I was using Goo Gone but that didn't work too well. Is there something else that will work better that won't damage the painted finish?

This pinstripe removal disc worked better than everything else I tried.

I was able to peel one of mine off with a heat gun. The other was a mess. I tried an eraser wheel but it was taking a beating. How I ended up getting mine off was by heating it up quite a bit and scraping it off with a windshield bone.
I didn't notice any scratches from the plastic, but I am repainting it anyway.

Race Car
3M General purpose adhesive cleaner, part number is 08987 for the aerosol spray can but it also comes in a liter or quart with a tapered plastic spout taped to the top of the can to control flow from the can.
Start from the top, saturating the area, reason being, by the time you get half way down and to the bottom, the run-down of the liquid will already have saturated those portions...., adhesive will soften to a point that you can just about scrape it off with just a fingernail but I use a paint stirring paddle (same dimensions as a wooden ruler) sharpened to a 45 deg angle only on one side, this will not harm the existing paint.

About two weeks ago I did the same project. I used a hair dryer, adhesive remover and my finger nail. It took time and patience, but my car looks a lot better now.
