Post short shift kit?

Well, I have just begun the journey into converting my 1987 944na from auto to manual, and I have had a couple questions. Should I get a short shift kit? I have heard that they put excess wear on some of the transmission components. If so, who makes the best short shift kits? Also, where can I find a momo shift **** that fits my car, if I get a short shift kit. I am looking for an all black leather shift **** with the f-16 style grip. I am also looking to put in msds race headers, test pipe, cone filter conversion, and a chip while the tranny is being converted. If anyone has any experience with any of these products, please respond. Finally, would it be unreasonable to say that my car after all these mods could handle a zero to 60 time of 6.5? How about 6.1? Thanks in advance.\

Thumbs down

I honestly don't know for sure, but I would be very surprised if a NA 944 with those slight modifications could do a 6 sec 0-60 clock. That is quite quick.

I'm sure you're going to get the same old response, that Porsches, especially the NA 944, aren't made for dragin'. But if you want that quick acceleration, your money is better spent in a 951. Plus it will hold it's value better.

Good luck,
Matt
