One of the things I love about the 944 is the very open rear visibility. Blind spots are almost nonexistent with the 944. However, with that tacky thing you might as well not have a rear window because it is one big blind spot.
Rear view mirror still works fine if limited with a fiberglass hatch lol. Yes it cuts down your 'hatch space' but also cuts down how much the interior heats up in the summer. Got to take the good with the bad.
I like the retro 80's style it gives my car. Its not for everyone I agree, to each his own. IMHO the big rear glass hatch makes the car look to japanish.

Heh, back in the 80s this would have been a hot item I guess. Its still cool from a historical standpoint.
Absolutely. It may be out of style now, but it was popular on many different cars. Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, Datsuns, Supras, etc. I've heard it commonly called a "Pantera" hatch due to the resemblance of the rear of a Pantera. HmmmmOhhhhhyeaaaa Pantera...NOT tacky.
$5k is joke though.. I have a vintage 944 Gemballa front end that very few are interested in, Maybe I should ask $3k for it!!!
