A/C Problem
My A/C blows coolish air, but it's not cooling like my dad it did back in the day.
Could it just need some kinda liquid coolant or something? It blows hard at full speed, etc etc. What should I do?

That "liquid coolant or something" you are talking about is R12, also known as Freon. It's very expensive these days - in the $80 per pound range. Your coolant system takes 34 ounces for a full-charge - but by the fact that yours does blow cool air, you just need a top-off.
R12 can only be charged by an EPA certified individual trained to properly recover and diagnose auto air conditioning systems. You're probably going to have to take it into the shop to have it topped off - and it's not going to be cheap.

Damn!!!!!!! Is that really what you all pay for freon? Down here in Mexico, I can take my 86' 944 A/C to get charged and I only pay $5 for a 1lb. can of freon. Thats right - only $5!

Yeah, well, this is probably a good place to point out that while the USA is a great place to live, its government continues to overstep its bounds and is slowly ruining a good thing. The freon thing is just one example - and not just in the case of a/c - Radio Shack used to sell a great, no-residue contact cleaner - with freon. Now, they sell this crap that doesn't work as well and leaves a residue to boot. Thanks, Uncle Sam. Paraphrasing a line from Full Metal Jacket, "Not even the common courtesy to give me a reach-around...."

PS - IIRC, my a/c was 2 cans low at time of charge (it blew BARELY cooled air), and I think it was about $80 in materials. I didn't think to ask how much was in a "can."
