I'm in for a clutch job at the end of this season and was thinking about going for a lightweight flywheel. There are two companies that make these for the s2: spec and helix.
The car is supercharged and sometimes subject to rpm plunge type engine stalls when col (like when topping at lights), presumably because of the extra sc drag.
Does anyone have experience with the spec flywheels? Do they make the engine more temperamental and subject to stall or increased vibration. Car is mainly driven on the track, so not much driving in traffic.
Opinions?

I ran the spec lightweight flywheel on Franky II (supercharged 968 engine) with no problems. Are you running the S2 crank damper?

Eric
I have a spec lightweight flywheel with stage3 hybrid clutch originally purchased through Lindsay Racing. Came with ring gear and all hardware. Been on the car for four years including a season of Touring Cars where we did standing starts instead of rolling starts when I did GTs. Has been excellent and is very driveable. I replaced the clutch plate last year as a precaution although the old one was still fine with no slipping. No issues with stalling. I'd be happy to let you drive it round the pit area next time I'm out to see how it feels if you can wait that long.

Thanks for the offer Steve. It seems that Lindsey racing now only sell the billet steel version for the s2, not the aluminium one. Never mind, there are other suppliers.
