I got this great idea... why not wire a dummy alarm blinker and use an already existing switch to activate it! Hey, I even got the blinker free in one of those "look at me" packaging schemes... and it runs forever off of 2 AA batteries!
So, here I am, got it somewhat figured out and working off in the central position, and when running the hot out of the blue wire, it turns on when faded, great... UNTIL the battery housing starts to self destruct due to a short!
I guess my first mistake may have been to assume the black and red wires on the fader switch were ground and hot, respectively.
So I have a hot and ground coming from the battery pack, and a hot and ground going into the blinker... how do I wire this through the dimmer switch without a short!
Is it even possable?
Anay help ASAP is GREATLY appriciated as I was about to put this all back together as I type this!
TIA

Come on guys, someone has to know how that thing works! I wish I had a decent voltmeter and knew how to use it, That would definitely help...

What kind of fader are you talking about, just a small reostat or something? Not sure I'd go that route as you'll continue to draw 12 volts from your battery, and lead to a dead battery.

Ok, nevermind, I figured out how the speaker fader thing works... I would have to modify it into a make/break switch and I'm not going down that treacherous road!
Thanks anyway, now I just need a stealthy location for the switch and a place to hide the 2 AA batteries...

If you're missing some options you can cut into one of the switch blanks on the center console and put a switch there that looks OEM (or even get an OEM switch for an option you don't have).
