Post 951 front on a 944...

I'm thinking about purchasing an '89 944 na. I really like the nose on the 951's and S2's, but this one has been taken very good care of for the past 10 years by it's current owner. If I buy it, how difficult is it to put a 951 nose on it? Is it to expensive to make it worth it? Are there any problems doing this? Any comments appreciated.

it is very costly due to the lights. i personally would not do it even if i had the parts laying around. i have both style front ends and like them both. if you buy the car enjoy it for what it is, if you want something different, buy something different. the 944 front will grow on you though. but this is of course just my opinion, which doesn't mean jack.

This is a philosophical reply more than a technical one…

I encourage you to do the things that will inspire you to maintain and preserve the vehicle you choose to buy. If that means adding a new nose, then do it – but do it well and spare no expense.

If you really want the Turbo or S2 look, then be patient and keep an eye out. I have heard of people getting nice S2’s for as little as $6,000. Makes me very jealous every time I hear such a story because I spent much more on an example that needed some work. However, I am motivated to making my S2 top notch and I am putting in the blood, sweat, tears and money to make it so.

That is what is important – purchasing a machine that inspires you to do what it takes to preserve the breed.

Hmm…I think I am going to get another glass of Sake.
