Colder Air Cold air intake?
I know there is info on here but, I can't seem to find it in the search. I am looking to increase airflow on my 87NA. I do have a couple things going for me as I do have an extra hood and front nose panel. Thinking about venting the nose panel to pull air through the front and relocating the breather box or plumbing in to it to pull the air. No more finer restriction and air pulled in from front. Not ram obviously but cooler air. I apologize if this has been addressed but I could not find it.

venting the panel is counterproductive for this purpose. leave it shut if you want to put the intake there so as to keep the intake air in a higher pressure zone. not really any reason to change from the stock setup in this case though.

The stock 944NA air-box is a very good design: large filter, bell-inlets, plenty of volume on each side of the filter, decent diameter snorkel, and pulls (cold) air from the fender well.
Not a single HP or TQ from swapping to a K&N. I dyno'ed back-to-back a used stock filter, K&N, and new stock filter. They were all the same - no measurable difference between any of them.
I've had the 944NA airbox both on my flowbench, and dyno-tested back-to-back. I couldn't find a single HP from anything I did with the airbox (including removing it completely).
For a 2.5L Non-turbo, it is the best performing solution.

Thank you for the info. Seems all the pics I've seen on the web are a little bit over enthusiastic. But numbers don't tend to lie. So thank you for saving me some time and money. So on to the cosmetic fixes.
