Thing is, once your caught up its not nearly as bad. It's just all of the deferred maintenance that beats these down. I've owned other 20 year old cars and it's the same thing really. That said I didn't like the cars enough to fix them up as much.

What happened to yours? Mine died in early November, so I've been 944less for almost 6 months

My 83 went south literally a week after i bought it, luckily its was an extra car but just tinkering you will evenutally get it. I'm going to grad school and working full time. its a tough life for now but it will be worth it, detirmination will force you to learn ALOT. I can't afford to pay some one else to maintain or repair my vehicles for I learn to do it on my own.

The main reason I do everything myself is because I don't trust people. I've been screwed/seen others get screwed by shops too many times, so whenever someways says "just take it to a shop. That's what I did" I laugh at them and blow their mind by doing it myself. If you know how these things work and do your research the sky is the limit.

Edit- ok, now I am REALLY not happy. After reading my bank card information to the lady on the phone there was a $231.71 charge to my account from zappos.com!!! WTF?!?!?! I don't know if someone tapped the line or the lady on the phone decided to steal my information, but I am ****ing pissed now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great ****ing day this has been...

Nope. If I had a gf I'd never let her near my money...

I would absolutely love to swap in a v8, but I can't afford it. I hate this engine more than anything else in the world. The engineers that designed this engine deserve to go to jail for their crimes against humanity.

99% of all problems with the 944 can be traced to the space between the steering wheel and drivers seat.

I still blame the people that designed the car because I am absolutely perfect in every way possible

My cars in college were first a Triumph Spitfire and then a GT6. I carried a bat in the boot of the Spit in case I ever ran into the guy that put the cat under the intake manifold and carb float bowl. While working on two degrees in engineering I worked at a night club, several restaurants and a british car shop as a machinist assistant (floor sweeper and chip shield for the expensive hemispherical Jag heads). The Brit shop payed nothing but time in the bay and the guys telling me what to do to fix all the endless problems, after hours, and only if I brought the beer.

Stick with it! That degree will pay out way more than you can imagine.
