Really the big question is WHY? If you have deep $$ pockets go for it. I'm not knocking your desire, but In the long run it would be much cheaper to purchase a 951 turbo car. It will have all the upgrades to chassis, brakes, transmission, shocks/struts, DME, KLR and engine. The list does continue on. All the headaches are already taken care of for you. Enjoy your NA for what it is now. You can always sell it later and buy your dream car.

Cheers,
Larry

A few years back there was a guy who did this with a junkyard turbo and PVC piping on his 944 NA, and it actually worked. He had it posted here on RL but I can't seem to find the build.

I have thought about doing a remote mount using a big turbo feedign a small 2871 ball bearing as a compound turbo setup. However, I'm just working on using a single big turbo and a larger displacement engine right now.

On an NA, I would just get the factory turbo parts rather. Or run a supercharger.

I do think it would be a fun project. And now with Rogue tuning we can do many things that we couldn't before. Like using the factory DME with and added MAP sensor (in essence the Mtune on an NA)

I'm currently collecting parts to do a rear mount on my BMW using low boost.

I saw that PVC build too he posted on Pelican and got run off the forum it seemed...

And Sid is correct Rogue released his MAF kit for the NA too if I'm not mistaken, which would deffinitly aid in tuning a forced induction application. Rogue did put turbo bolt ons on the car then put it through its paces on high boost, the general consensus is on the NA motor 8-10 psi is a good number to shoot for, being high compression you dont really need alot of pressure to make good power.

While a cheap 951 could be tempting, there isnt much out there more expensive than a 951 that needs alot of attention.

I understand the need to turbo an n/a. If you have a good n/a that is well sorted, it would be going backwards to have a rough 951.
I see the above kits as a waste of time and money.
Pick up a set of 951 pistons, flywheel and clutch. thats a solid bottom end then.
you can keep the stock n/a head/cam ect..
Its easy and simple---

The only set back is it will never be worth the same as an equal condition 951.

Default ROTREX

Hello Everyone,

I've read my share of "Can you turbo your NA" over the years.
Never really considered it because the stock power has always been fine for my daily driving needs.
With that said I am interested in knowing what our options are and if it can really be done.

Shhhhhh...
Instead of doing much needed weekend yard work I came across this and thought it would be a nice share if it hasn't been posted already.

Chop Shop London Garage - season 2 episode 10‬

Rotrex, a Denmark company sells bolt-on turbo kits for any cars. Yes the 944na!

18:14
Bolt on turbo charger took an 944na from 163hp to 250hp with boost.

25:47
After some tweaking they ended up with 292hp with boost.

Not sure about price but it is very possible to achieve this power on the NA engine.

They blow the head-gasket first time out...

From the HP gain they saw, they must have been running 12-14psi of boost. Definitely too much. (especially on pump gas)

If they would have kept boost down to 6-8psi, it would probably have run well for a long time.

Lol... you can actually hear the pinging in the cabin video. Also, that back hatch looks darn cool.

So what all would you need to have a small eaton installed? Obviously the supercharger, injectors, piggyback & e85 with a tune on low boost?

They did horrible things to that car. It didn't deserve that

Is it just me, or could anyone else not understand half of what they said?

See my thread if you want to see my build of a rotrex supercharged s2. Still going strong after more than a year of track abuse.

Ops...I stand corrected it is a supercharger and not a turbo.
Maybe I should have been doing that yard work after all...

That video posted makes me ashamed to be English, what a bunch of *****. If i ever see that bald **** i will claw hammer his face.

I think that SC conversion would be a lot better with 944 turbo pistons. I expect the conversion costs more than a 951 engine conversion too.
