Default Opps! I I left a mark...

I was trying to extract the broken screw and accidentally put a scratch mark on it...

I can feel it when I run my finger over it... what should I do? 1000 grit sand paper? Or gasket sealant on that area when putting the new gasket/pump on?

Hylomar works great and doesn't ever get hard - makes easy to clean-up next time you need to do the job.

I had trouble with that bolt, too. I had wanted to use Van's welding trick, but I was too worried about splatter so I drilled it and used a Time-Sert.

Thanks for everyone's reply.

Apparently that scratch mark seems like a tiny problem compare to this...

Basically I drilled it out up to 5/8, then the bolt extractor eat the rest of the metal include a little bit of the case, yet the stupid bolt still won't come out.

Here is another stupid bolt, except I didn't drill to the case... yet.

I am thinking of trying another bolt extractor... Any suggestions?

The bolt extractor won't be of any use if yours are like mine were. Count on a thread repair kit. As I mentioned, I highly recommend TIME-SERT.

I doubt welding works in my case... the bolt just too weak regardless it has the hex head on or not. I am able to double-stack two nuts but it twist the whole bolt instead of unscrewing it out.

All the bolt at the bottom of the pump are broken.

So far, I tried soaking it with liquid wrench for 1 whole week, torch it, drill it then use screw extractor. I am out of idea...

did you try putting a torch to it and then trying to use 2 nuts to back it out? That worked for me when i had doubts about it breaking when i was trying to take it out.

Yes, probably try it a bit more for the longer one that I can fit 2 nuts in. As for the two short one, I probably take pontifex4 suggestion and use time-sert.

Really don't want to drill the block

btw it is M6x1.0, right?

Correct. The time-sert kit is by far the best solution -- it's an easy, permanent solution, it's quick, and it's really, really hard to do wrong.

Way beyond screwed.

While waiting time-sert from mail I decided to try screw extractor once more.

Now I have to drill out two pieces of broken heat treated tampered carbon steel screw extractor

Try to find a couple of tungsten carbide bits that are smaller than the drill bit in your TIME-SERT kit. I'm sorry to say that they're expensive. Very slowly and carefully work on drilling all that stuff out of there before you start with the TIME-SERT.

Run the drill slowly.

It's going to take time and care, so don't even start it until you're able to give it both. Make sure to carefully read the instructions in the TIME-SERT kit. Do as it says and it should go well.
