The electrical idiot light as well as the voltmeter gauge light is flickering in unison as the engine goes up and down in revs. The voltmeter shows between 15 to 16 volts (as always) and everything works fine. No sign of deeming lights at night. The alternator belt is tight. The problem started after I took the starter out to bleed the clutch. I’m puzzled! Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I am not positive about how the computers on our cars work, but I do know that on a Ford, when the computer loses current (disconnecting the battery), it takes at least 15 minutes of running the engine for the computer to recalibrate and go through the diagnostics. Check all of your connections on the starter. In the past I have disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer, you may want to give it a try.

The wiring running to the generator might have came loose while you were working on it.
No power to the generator (small wire) will cause the idiot light to come in.
Schematic for early 944 is available at Pelican Parts web site (down at this point in time).
Might be worth checking.
Take care
