Fiberglass=Fibron?
Hello all,
I recently got some 968 spoiler and trim pieces from a salvage yard that were damaged around the mounting areas, I was assuming that I'd just put some good old fiberglass cloth and resin down, wait till it hardened, and hit it up with a detail sander before prime&paint. But I just read that the spoiler is made of a substance called fibron. So Is fibron just a fancy word for fiberglass, or am I the proud owner of another piece of useless hand-me-down trash.

Bob, try a Google search with Fibron" as the search term; most of the results will be obviously unrelated, but there's a German company called "Menzolit-Fibron GmbH" that's listed on a site called "Fiberglass World."
I suspect that these are the people with your answers....

Fibron appears to be just a name brand. As for patching, or repairing fiberglass, goto a fiberglass shop to get the supplies if nothing else get good MEKP thats sets up in 30-45 min, it allows good work time. !Only use the Bondo brand as a last resort! For some reason it just doesn't cure properly(could be the MEKP they use it sets up in 15 min.) and is expensive. The problem you will run into is that for the polyester resin you only have 48 hours to get a chemical bond, so your patch will only have a mechanical bond. Meaning it will not be the best, the only way to avoid the patch coming off is to make it big. I have worked on many fiberglass boats, and have seen the fustration of not doing it right the first time.
Sorry, it is just a warning from experience.
