Post Transmission HELP

Has anyone used one of the major chains, like Aamco to rebuild their tranny? How did it work out? Does anyone have anyone in Southeastern Ct to recommend for a rebuild? THANKS

Question

TF: Where in S.E. CT are you? Is it an auto or 5 speed?

Rebuild or replace... that is the question. My experience has shown that there are a lot of 944 and 951 tranny's out there at the wrecking yards/dismantlers (5 speed and auto's). Here in San Diego there are so many tranny's on the market that the price is much cheaper than rebuilt, and the dismantlers will guarentee them. If they sell you a bad one, they'll give you another one (initial install only.... they don't guarentee it after a couple of years, or A-X's). I'd say check the dismantlers' inventory before rebuilding. You might be suprised.

Good luck!
