Thumbs down Ugly F'in US spec Bumpers!!

Is it just me or does everyone really think that the US spec'd bumpers are ugly as he!!? Has anyone tried to convert to the euro style? I think I will be removing my Gemballa and bringing it back to the US with me to slap on a 951...(god I hope I never get rear ended..knock on wood)

Notice how they don't stick out from the car...

I think putting the Euro bumpers onto a US car would be pretty easy. I think that the Euro bumper brackets directly replace the US bumper "shocks" and then your Euro bumper goes right on.

The tow hook on the Turbo goes into the rear bumper. I don't think that Gemballa bumper has an opening for it, does it? The normally aspriated cars have the tow hook eye hidden somewhere under the bumper that gets obscured by the Turbo rear valence.

Porsche US bumpers are still a hell of a lot better looking than BMW and Mercedes bumpers of that era. And the SUV that will hit you will have its bumper level with about the bottom of your hatch anyway.

The Euro 944 front bumper is quite nice too, with the driving lights in it.

As I am new to Porsche ownership, I've never seen that rear bumper. BUT I LOVE IT! Where can I get one for my 951? (Preferably at a cheap price) That looks soooooo much better than my rear bumper.

Bumper looks good, but how is the aerodynamics? The turbo rear lower spoiler is also designed as a diffuser and smoothens out the airflow. That unit probably creates drag as a side effect since it dips down, but rear downforce as well.

Having been rear-ended, I will stick with the US bumper.

I'm with Tabor on this one. The 5mph or 10mph shocks/rubber pad system really does work. Once, with brain temporarily disconnected from reality, I reversed into a concrete pillar, hitting with the passengers side rear rubber pad. Bang! My first thought was "uh, oh -- I think I've just totalled my 944".

Drove it forward off the pillar. Got out to inspect the horrendous damage.

Not a mark. Amazing.

Now I really love the look of those US style bumpers. Matter of taste, I suppose.

Although I really like Michael's bumper, this is true...

Got the t-shirt.

I like the euro spec front facia a lot more than the us spec ones. That rear bumper just doesn't do anything for me though.

A 944NA with a eurospec front facia and the us spec rear bumper with the 951 rear bottom spoiler would look really nice. But thats just my opinion

I think this is the best looking front end for a 944 na out there.

Here is the thing, I have been rear ended as well. I was sitting still, he was going 45mph! It totaled my car and my friends truck a car length ahead of me. You could put a piece of fishing line stretched tight back there and it would have done the same. The bumper of that car now sits in the back seat, almost.

The point, the US spec rear bumper, in my opinion, is horribly ugly. It looks like a brush guard on the back of your car!

951juden, Marksport, the bumper is Gemballa, you can't find it anywhere. They apparently don't make them anymore. Plus, that is the only one that he or I have ever seen. The aerodynamics, they're great. I have no rear valence, and he can follow me at 220kph with no problem. (Mike needs to let me know next time that we are passing our supervisor!)

Gives a 944 that nice "toyota" look. Just what I always wanted...

Here's the stock Euro nose for the plain-jane 944. This is my car right after I got it - lousy pic and the car was pretty rough. Not really a glamour shot but you can get an idea of the bumper treatment.
