Thanks Gary, I get the idea. From my measurements, a split-collar of 22.3mm ID / 37-38.8mm OD, 20mm width would work well. It will fit over the shaft, under the rubber-boot and slide into the housing like the stock stop. Finding such a thin collar is the problem, but McMaster-Carr actually had one that's close, I'll just have to grind off about 1mm off the outside. Thanks for the photos!
