New Porsche 944 Track Car Articles
I've been busy over at my www.newhillgarage.com website with posts about my Porsche 944 track car. There are new articles about installation of a Koni 944 Spec suspension, homemade adjustable camber plates, tires, and my most recent track weekend at VIR. Feel free to check it out. Look for the Porsche Track Car link on the right hand side of the homepage.

I'm a little concerned about your camber plates. To prevent binding while steering (to extents) and while the suspension is compressing, those bearings need a little bit of "float" to handle misalignment - that's why the factory ones are mounted in rubber and the after market ones always utilize a pherical bearing. I don't see how your design can allow for that movement.

Vann, there are 2 things that allow some rotation. On the underside, the standard bearing is held by a round spherical cup. I have small bars that come up against the fore and aft sides of this cup but they don't restrict rotation. Side to side, I have taken the center bushing out of a bearing from a spare mount. It fits in the hole on the top plate but not super tight. This restricts side to side motion but allows small amounts of rotation.
I have articulated the suspension up and down in the shop and now, after last weekend, at the track. If there is any binding, I can't spot it.
Do you have a reference as to a spherical bearing that fits? I would be interested in going that route in the future.
Thanks for your input.

Harvey, go to a bearing supply store, and ask from a spherical bearing for 3/4" shaft, you will have machine spacers to reduce the inside daimeter to 14mm which is the shock shaft diameter. You know ,there are several companies already making billet upper strut housings.

My wife and I also were the Chin event this weekend. Black 951 #11 (me) and red s2 (wife).
We have been instructing for Chin for many years. Yes they put on an awesome event, lots of track time and one student. Glad you enjoyed.

I have the Kokeln camber mounts, and they use a 5/8" Aurora spherical bearing (with adapter sleeves to reduce the ID to 14mm). You can also get 14mm spherical bearings, but they're a little more money.
