Post Anybody see the Porsche special on Speed Vision last eve?

I just happen to catch a special documentary last night on cable. Speed Vision did a great in depth on Porsche racing. Really nice job on the coverage of Porsche's racing heritage.

Missed that one; went out socializing after the race coverage ended. But I _did_ see Hurley Haywood being interviewed standing in front of ....(wait for it.... cue drumroll!)..._two_ of 'our' cars.. a red 944 and a red 924 or 924S....!!!

Jim, "Roll on, Double Six!!!"

Thumbs up

Yeah man i saw it. I really liked how they showed the progression of the racing line. Most of that stuff happened before i was born It'd be cool if someone could find that on video, i'd watch it again and again.

I second that, car was unbelievable. And when was it built? 82 or something?

But i think I'd take one of them 917-10 can am cars first. 1100 hp held the closed circuit speed record for 15 years

Ken, I got it on tape, I was so siked when i saw it being aired again at 1:30 am, I had the tape all ready that time. I may be able to make you a copy if you want. But it would be cool to get a real copy from speedvision or something.

Sorry, it was called "Porsche, victory by design" followed by "ferrari, victory by design" narrated by the same guy, another must see. I checked my digital cable, and it reads about a month ahead and it doesn't look like they're airing it again. Maybe check speedvision.com (or speedchannel.com now, who knows). Deffinetley worth it. This wasn't the first time they aired it, I saw it a few months back, so i'm sure they will put it on again.

It's worth it, even if you just see Brian Redman flying through some small towns in a, I think, 908 spyder. All of this is on open roads too. Unbelievable!

Ahhhh the black 962CS when they took you down the road in it listening to that diamond of a 12 cyl Porsche motor, I had hallucinations of myself driving that beast down the desert highway. Suddenly I was reduced to a 6yr old howling engine sounds at the tv screen "veroooom! verooooom! rhaaaaaaaa, rhaaaaaaaa" And then thinking if one ever could be so lucky to be seated behind the wheel of a 962CS, the only thought that would come to mind would have to be the Will Smith line in Independence Day........ "I GOTTA get me one of THESE!!!".

Man what a special. That's a tape or better yet DVD I would pay hard earned CA$$$H for.

If anybody knows when it will be shown again or how to get a copy please post it. The Ferrari special was equally as entertaining.

I believe both of those initially aired on TLC? I know it wasn't speedvision, cause I dont get that here and I remember recording them.

The one I'm thinking of was more a biography of Ferry's life, but also included a lot of car stuff of course. There was also a bio on Enzo Ferrari before the bio on ferry.
