N/A tranny in Turbo- part 2
Well, i just put the n/a tranny on the turbo for fun.
All i have to say is; WOW! CHIRPING THIRD IS FUN!!! too bad the speedo doesn't work.
My buddy says he has never driven anything as fast...he has 5 porshes
the question is when do I change it back? or should I?

Tabor,
it's from an 84 so no speedo. I think i will strap some magnets and a sensor to the tranny and the axle. this will be just like the inside system but on the outside. i think this could be a good solution for the 968 speedo problem. what do you think?

Here's what I think:
The NA transaxle is not strong enough to hold up to your turbo power. If you stop messing around with that thing, you have a potential buyer at the right price

The tranny is holding just fine so far. Anyway when my turbo tranny is done i am going to swap them... i just figure that porsche did what they did when they made the car, for a reason. they know how to build cars so i want to keep it as close to stock as i can.

Tabor, I wouldn't trust what a company that does engine conversions on Porsches says...
Afterall, if they said the car needs a 944 T transaxle, the cost would've gone up for the conversion. Porsche felt that for an increase of about 60 hp, they needed not only a stronger transaxle, but stronger clutch, torque tube, an external transaxle cooler, etc.
