Hey do these cars use Bosch L-Jetronic or Motronic ignitions? I have heard both. Did they change somewhere along the years or different models. I'm trying to learn more about this stuff. Also looking for a book recomendation that covers this topic. Thanks

Yeah thats what I though but then I was looking in the factory manuals and I saw the heading "L-Jetronic fuel injection". (pg 3 of the engine manual) Is this a typo. They sure have enough typos throughout the rest of the books.

Hey Keith, Tabor, everybody,
I saw that book in the Performance Products Catalogue (Bosch fuel injection and engine management). Do they talk just about the electronic gizmos or do they talk at all about things like emissions systems, vacuum sytems, etc. Also, what level of reading is that book. I am having problems with the factory manuals because they assume you know alot to begin with. I need somthing easy to understand. I was considering the Bosch Motronic manual as another alternative. Again, any advice would be appreciated.

Motronic is the name more commonly used for newer designs, it simply signifies that electronic (pulsed) fuel injection control is also integrated with electronic timing control.
Our cars utulize L-jectronic 'type' of Motronic fuel injection, that isn't a typo.

Cobbs, the books cover a lot of different aspects, and aren't filled with just techno-junk.
The above mentioned book is a good one, but don't overlook the others either.
