Woohoo, I've been called a young man! In 17 years of 944 ownership I really haven't found anything that I can't do or can't do better - sometimes it just takes longer; or I just care more; or requires special tools.

Does Chris White know more about engine building than me? Absolutely - I'm not arguing that. Given the tools and time, however, I think I can do as well... working for yourself, you have your own love (or hate) of your car to keep you motivated. For a shop, it comes down to the customers' budget constraints.

I do my own alignments - it probably takes me 4 hours to get it right, rather than 1 hour a good indy shop might spend. But I've had those done... and started doing them myself because I was seeking a higher level of perfection.

Yall know I am not saying that you arent very good, or very experienced, or that you may very well be pro techs for as far as I know. I am quite sure you do an excellent job.

I was just wondering where the best semi Porsche service shops with the dedicated somewhat sometimes 944 kinda professional techs are.

It must not be lot as we only have 4 "unrelated" posts who work on other guys cars so far.

I used DART auto in denver to do my alignment. They are mainly a porsche shop and also race 944 spec cars so they seemed like the obvious choice. I was happy with their service.

Not to sound rude:

I found a Top Tech through my girlfriend before I ever got my car. Knowing his history and connections, I don't know of someone more qualified with 944s. Seeing as how he worked for Porsche before the 944's inception, and helped develop the 928, I'm hard pressed to think of a more qualified person. He was also the PCA director of front-engined water cooled Porsches...

Tom Charlesworth anybody? Supposing you can book him. He's full-up on his work roster, probably 6 months out. And he knows these cars like a surgeon.

Precision Motorsports Racing
Califon, NJ

Owner: Will DiGiovanni was PCA National Tech Committee, Crew Chief in the 944 Turbo Cup

The Shop takes care of about 15 944 Turbo Cup cars todate still.. Please countless other 944 in the Tri-state area. Not only a 944 shop I beleive he and his customer won the over all PCA points Championship this past year in GTB1 with a Caymen. They get cars from all over... Great people!!!

I use Motorwerks Racing just north of Atlanta, GA. Matthew Forte has a prestine shop where you could eat off the floors. He does great work and knows the 944 inside and out. His main business is track cars but he will work on street cars as well. Highly recommended.
