I was looking at the Gt-racing fiberglass hatch and I was wondering if it creates a decent amount of drag or lift? It creates a big hole in the airflow over the car that you don't have with the stock hatch. Would this be significant enough to negate a good amount of the weight loss?

 

As far as lift and drag I don't know but weight savings it is a good way to cut weight. I think the back hatch is around 45 pounds.

 

howabout fitting a thin piece of plexiglass in the middle of the "buttresses" so you can still see out the back but the original shape is still there? might gain 2lbs with the plastic and attachment hardware.

 

Frankly at that point you're taking all the weight off the rear and mess with what made the 944 cool to start with- the balance.

And I don't even like the hatch 95% of the time, too much light being let in.

 

My manufacture sticker says weight distribution is 49/51 f/r. So cutting weight off the back would even it out a bit
