I haven't been fortunate enough to see a turbo in this good a shape in person...

I hope it goes for ridiculous amount of money, to somebody who'll take care of the car. I know this is the second time the ad's being listed, but for God's sake it's such a nice example of a great car.

And just what makes you think it's so nice? Just about ANY car can look fantastic in pictures. My bet is it's about a 5/10 for cosmetic, and probably does have a salvage title, not the clean one like they say. Just the "couple of 1-2 inch cracks" in the dash would drive me away. I'm sure the interior is nicely faded too. Might make a nice track car though

Do you really think so? Well, I thought my turbo was in better shape than the car craig just bought, but you never know from just pictures I guess... (Maybe the wheels make too strong a statement for me, there's a close up of one of them, it looks new, along with the caliper etc.)

Ok, if the rest of the car is as good as the cosmetics, I'd "steal" it in a jiffy. BUT, who has ever heard of a "false" salvage title. It was there for a reason. I'd say the car's exterior looks so brand new cause it got totaled and was rebuilt by a pro and detailed by the dealership that is selling it. It is such an iffy. It is honestly the most beautiful 944 I have ever seen on the net. Everything looks spectacular and the engine bay is CLEAN. The interior is not the nicest though. Argh! I cant make up my mind. I must say it does look more beautiful than all the other cars in that "stable" and totally out-ferraris that Ferrari. I'd have to see it up close. The rear is a bit too high in relation to the front for me too. Miles are low.....Whatever, like I said: I'd have to see it. It reminds me of the time I went to see a low mileage 86 n/a. The car looked brand new in and out and had a ton of receipts and a clean bill of health. So I ask the owner and he says the body and interior were so nice cause of proper maintenance. So I check the car out and it turns out it had over 20 ins. claims and OVER 20 grand cdn. in claims. One of the claims did not even list an amount and what scared me even more was that most of the claims were collisions (including the unlisted one). Thecar felt so damn new though! Oh yeah, the owner failed to mention any of this. The car I have now on the other hand has had NO accidents (knock on wood).

Looks just like my S2 did when I bought it. Before I turned it into a station car that is. Oh yeah, my paint is all original, no bodywork ever.

How do I upload a picture? I have a few of mine to use as comparison.

Hmmm... it's a "no reserve auction" but "our buy it now price is the same as our reserve price."

Does that mean that our buy it now price is $0.00?

Jim, the elderly are _so_ easy to confuse!

Ok, carfax report says a salvage title issued 10/29/1991, 9,500 miles, New York Motor Vehicle Dept. Bronx, NY.
Re-Titled '94 with 15,xxx miles.
2 Auctions, 2 dealers.

Now, if someone has all the records on the car, knows why it got the salvage title, and who rebuilt it, it could be a good purchase for $8 grand or so.

Concidering where it was first titled, it was probably stolen and wrecked, and the origional ownder settled with the insurance company to get a new one.

Why would it have a clean Texas title? Just curious.

From whhat I understand, some state allow you to have the ar restored to factory conditons if under a certain milage, and have it DOT and EPA certified to clear the title.

When I was talking to my insurance agent, he said Indiana has this loophole and if I salvaged my car, and repaired it to factory specs, the Salvage would be removed if I titled it in Indiana and it was certified. (I think it would still show on a carfax like this one, but if you got the title run in Indiana, it would be clear)

In BC we ONE crown (as in govt.) insurance agency called ICBC (excellent). All you do is give em 15 or 20 canadian bucks (ie: 75 US cents) and they give you a full report on the car's claim history. Wont work if the car is from out of the province (which it usually aint).

A couple other things also scare me. They mention "recent paintwork" and that it was "lowered". I have seen cars which were properly lowered and re-aligned, but in looking at the pics, it appears that only the front has been lowered. Although, if the price is right it could make a real sweet ride.

Eric--I need another turbo---NOW!!!!
