Red face Help Water Temp can't be 0

My water temp gauge died during DE this weekend. No one seemed to know where the sending unit is located on an 84. Haynes didn't note it either. Anyone know where it's hiding or had a similar failure and have suggestions for the possible source of the problem?

Thanks.

It is on the side of the head underneath the intake manifold. It should have one wire attached to it. The connection gets corroded, so before you buy a new one, clean the connection with some fine sandpaper.
