What's the concensus here? I have a couple days to decide on which disc to install . Ive been told by my mechanic that the rubber centered clutch is smoother and quieter than the spring center. Springs last longer . I really enjoy the mechanical sound of a car so noise is not a problemI find it kinda cool. But for an every day driver whichi is the better way to go ? Thanks to all!!!!

I have a spring centered clutch. My mech basically said the same stuff but recommended the spring one. Now I always think that there is something wrong with the trasaxle cause of all the noise!
Anywho, I feel reassured, I'd rather change my clutch if its worn, not if some mech component of it fails.

From what I've read on these pages is that the rubber hub was designed to prevent wear and tear on the transaxle... Not sure what part. but they supposedly beefed up that part on the turbos.. I have no Idea if that is true or not.. But there are a million old threads on just this subject. I am about to do the same and am going to research it a bit. I am leaning towards the rubber center.. Like my transaxle just the way it is..

My mech. said the rubber center was to compensate for the lack of a harmonic balancer,he has said on his car he runs springs and it only really bothers him on long highway runs . On his advice I'm leaning towards the springs .He's the tech. guy for PCA so I trust his opinion.

I had a rubber centered. When the center disintegrated and left me stranded, I decided to go with the spring centered. The clutch pedal is a bit stiffer now. That is the only difference that I have noticed. No extra "noise".

I replaced my failed rubber center clutch with a spring centered aprox. 6 months ago and do not regret it,however it is a little noisier and you tend to feel a chatter if you do not match the revs on down shifting, not really a problem. If I had to do it all over again I would stick with the spring centered clutch.
