Ya I'm taking the block and going to build it just don't know if I want it for the 951 or save it for something down the road. My 951 engine has over 200k on it so it's getting tired so the swap is very tempting.

Eh...what kind of "Free 350"?
There were a lot of variations of the 350CI motor, not all good. Many put out less HP than a stock 944! All will add weight!(we are not talking LSx here)

Lt1 350 block is just as good as an ls1 350. The iron block is only 45 pounds heavier than a aluminum 350. Plus the number of performance parts for a small block is unlimited.

The 350 engine is late 80's or very early 90's. If i do put the motor in it won't be stock it would have to be at least 350+ hp. I also would turbo charge the engine if possible. Personally I like the stock engine a lot, well built and lots of potential. I plan to keep this car for a good 30 yrs unless it gets totaled.

I have never figured out why someone would want to put an old engine with crappy fuel miliage into a Porsche. Use a LSx or do not even consider it. They are making very good engines today that you could use so why would you want to go backwards, you already have one of the best engines from the 80's.

By the way, there is no reason to do a poll. Just do the research on failed dreams and junked out 350 conversions that never get completed or ever turn into a reliable driver. For every success you will find 20 failures. It takes a lot of skill and money to do it right so you have to seriously ask yourself if you really possess the skill and money to do it. Maybe you do? I am always suspect when I hear the catch words like 'throw it in", "change it out" "force it" or in your case "swap" it in. Like someone is changing ice cream flavors. I would take people much more serious if they would tell me they are going to "fabricate" putting a engine in.

I had a 2007 C6 Corvette and that was one of the sweetest engines ever. 400hp/400tq and with the 6 speed manual, 32mpg at 70 miles per hour.

If the engine is ever installed it wouldn't be for a few years any way. My 951 is my DD and I try to treat it well, I have new go fast parts for her on the way as we speak and this summer I will be changing a lot of gaskets, hoses and other items to ensure she stays running.
