Post Where is my tool kit?

I hope I'm not missing something obvious here. But I just recently picked up my '91 944S2. And it doesn't look like I've got a tool kit anywhere. I've looked all around the trunk. Taken the spare out. I've got the jack, and jack handle thing. But no little tool kit. Am I missing something? Where is it suppose to be?

Thanks.

It's a roll-up vinyl deal in with the spare/jack/handle. If you have not seen it, It's missing. Make sure you have something to use for a lug wrench, or that spare won't do you much good.

Would I be wise to find an orgional one like from eBay or something? Is there any special tools that I'm missing? Because otherwise I'd just like to buy a little junior took kit anyway to leave in there.

Lessee...combo lug/sparkplug wrench, really cheap screwdriver, even cheaper pliers and a thing I haven't figured out. Don't go over ten bucks on Ebay, anything else you pick up would be better, just make sure you get a lug wrench.

The lugs are 19mm IIRC.

Ummm.. Also make sure you've got something to inflate that spacesaver spare with... otherwise the jack, jack handle, and lugwrench won't do you much good...

The car came with a 12V compressor; if it's gone south for the winter, you can get a cheapy at most chain auto parts stores. Or you can find an original on e-bay, but probably pricey...

Jim... or just always carry lottsa coldbeer... enough coldbeer will fix anything.. repeat..

Double thanks Jim! Infact mine doesn't have one and that was what prompted me to ask the question in the first place.

They make tire inflators that take CO2 12grams... they're faster than a battery-driven pump and seem more able to push those last few pounds into the tire. And, since I play stock-class paintball (but nobody else does) I've got lots of them lying around.

Of course, I do have to get out the 12V pump once a week or so, when I haven't driven the car for a couple days and come down to find that my leaky front left tire has gone flat again...

One of the extra thingies is a hex wrench to close the sunroof if it fails. You can also use it to manually position the power driver's seat fore/aft if its motor should fail.

I like to carry a "plug"-type tire repair kit too, so if it's a simple nail-type puncture, I can repair it on the spot. Good to still have the regular spare for the full-carcass-blowout scenario.

The lug tool is missing from mine and the pliars are rusted shut.

I just carry around a 1/2" drive ratchet and 19mm socket.

Oh and has anybody else noticed that the compressor's cig lighter adapter only fits in a Porsche? Ok..i've only tried my 951 but I assume at least all cig lighters are the same?

Cool

Aw, shucks, guys.. He deserves the real thing.. No one mentioned the eyelet front tow hook screw in thing. If I were him I'd call 944 Ecology (http://home.hvc.rr.com/ecologyparts/) and get the set, compressor and all. It's not a real high demand item so hopefully George will be reasonable with him. (Last time I called, the part I wanted was too small, so I've never done business with them, but they seem like the type of business that would have just what he needs) Anyway, micky mousing together a set of tools for an S2 just isn't the Porsche way.. it is part of the package. My 951 came with clear plastic gloves in the side compartment, to keep hands clean during emergency service. It is this "attention to detail" that separates us from the rest.

We now return you to the scheduled program already in progress..

Very true. I just emailed them and I'll see what they charge for all that. I'll let you all know.

It's too easy to just let it go and start treating the 944 like my old 5.0 Mustang. Sure it was a fun car, but without ducktape and fresh cardboard under it everynight it was pretty crude.

We must be strong!
