Default Help identifying wires

I'm hoping someone can tell me what these unconnected wires are for on my recently purchased 1987 944s. There are two sets of wires, and one vacumn looking line. One set of wires. (brown/white) have power (both) when ignition is turned on, and appears to go from the oil filter/power steering reservoir area, around front of motor into a harness. The second set of wires (red/green/black) show no power, and come out of back of distributor. Vacumn line goes under and front of engine somewhere. there is also a little bracket behind distributor that has nothing attached to it. Everything on car seems to work correctly, but I don't like the idea of having wires that go to nowhere hanging around. Appreciate any help identifying where these go. Thanks, Mike.

They look non-factory to me. As does the "bracket" and the "fuel line protector".

How's the heat work in this car? Are the S's supposed to have the heater valve right there behind the distributor like the other 16 valve cars? if so, that would explain the vacuum line. Can't help with the wires, other than that they don't look particularly like factory wiring to me.

Jpk, heat works well. I'll check into that heater valve you mentioned. It seems like something has been removed from that area to me, although I can't figure out what it was. As I mentioned before, the set of three wires (red/green/black are coming out of the back of distributor. Anyone else feel free to offer any insight.

Do your oil pressure gauge and oil pressure light work?

The wires look like cam angle sensor to me, the bracket holds the cas connecter.. I just installed mine and the connecter kinda self destructed on me..

I have about 4 wires down under the oil filter I have no clue were they go..

Mine has the heater control valve in the area were your vacuum line is, don't see it on yours..

That would be whats left of your hall sensor wiring

And the vacuum line is for the heater control valve.

944Ross, oil pressure gauge works fine, not sure about oil light, but I'll check it today. Racersteve, I'll have to check into the cas, would car run without them connected, because car runs good, actually with a little hesitation on takeoff. You're right about heater control valve, that jpk had mentioned earlier. I checked and found that mine has been deleted. I'll get another on car. Dougs951, can you tell me just what is a hall sensor? One more question, does anyone have any idea what the brown/white set of wires were for? I'm really concerned about them because both wires are "live" when ignition is turned on.

SUCCESS!!! Took info you guys provided, and after further searching found that these two sets of wires plug into each other, even though the wires on each set are not color coded the same. Actually one wire goes to the shielding on the other set. So it looks like I now have info I need to get all these loose ends connected again. Once again thanks for the help. Mike
