Default CCW classic track wheels color

I am refinishing some CCW classic wheels which will go on my guards red 951. They are 18's with polished outer lips. Anyone have any suggestions on what color centers? I was going to have them anodized the CCW bright black. The centers are currently shotpeened grey anodized. Any suggestions or thoughts on preferences?

I had the shot-peened black anodized finish on mine. After about 4 years the black parts turned that odd purplish color and I kept the car under a cover or in the garage. Black anodizing suffers from UV exposure. Personally I would break down the wheels and have the centers powder coated whatever color you want. If yours are like mine I would also relieve the sharp corners on the forged casting between the spokes; mine were sharp enough to cut you and always snagged a towel when I dried them. Dark anthracite grey looks good w/ CCW's on a red car.

The centers are stripped ready to be refinished. How durable otherwise is the black anodized finish and how difficult to clean was it? The shot peening seems to hold dirt and since only soapy water is allowed with anodizing I was hoping the black would be easier than the grey finish they are now.

I believe CCW anodizing is type II. I was thinking of doing type III hard anodizing but can't find anywhere local to do so.

I just found these pictures on rennlist which makes me feel bad about changing color. This car looks awesome. 18 inch CCW's look so much bigger than 17's.

I had the same Classic Track series CCW's as yours. Mine were a real hassle to clean on just a street car. The black anodizing looked so good at first but seemed to fade and show nicks easily from wheel tools. I would never have anodized centers again and would go for PC that is more durable and UV stabilized when sealed. Just an opinion.
