Doug, you can also get nice Japan market cars up here, particularly in BC. I nearly bought a 968 with script sport seats and a sunroof delete from Japan a year ago.

I know this doesn't help you, but as evidence of how much more common importing US cars into Canada is, compare this Canadian government link: https://www.riv.ca/ImporterChecklist.aspx

To the NHTSA link I gave above (http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/).

Hey Charlie. It's guards red 944 Dave. Did Mosport and you took more for a boot at Shannonville with the St.Lac group with the old car. Cheers dude. Looking forward to mixing it up again next season.

As for the S2, I think patience could be your virtue here.Take your time and wait for the right one,it will come along.

In the opposite direction I know that any car over 15 years old requires virtually no modifications to plate in Canada and I would think there would be a similar rule the other way. All I had to do when I brought the US car to Canada was add DRL's and pass mechanical inspection to plate it.

In my experience the prices tend to be higher in Canada. Especially now that the USD is slightly below par with the CAD. I am not sure how moving a car from Canada to the US would make sense unless a rare collector or special interest. But to each his own.

Good Luck.

It's very hard to find clear information on this. I was debating on importing over a vehicle from Europe but it was so confusing I gave up.

Default Glad u passed on that S2

Doug,
Glad u passed on that silver S2. I saw it in person and the seller was super-evasive and a real jerk. The car had an unusual BC inspection vin sticker which in my experience means the car had been wrecked, stolen, chopped so that a new vin had to be assigned. The seller claimed the BC vin sticker was because the car was imported from Japan. But I own 2 cars imported from Japan and they both lacked the odd BC vin sticker (since they have normal vin displayed).

Anyways glad you passed and glad I did too since I grabbed a real nice 89km 951.

I looked into importing a car from BC a few years ago... What I came up with is it's nearly impossible to do without the aid of a licensed importer. That said, the difficulty depended greatly upon the year of the car. I was looking at an 88 and it was so complicated that I gave up. But, IIRC, it would have been simpler if it was an 89 or a 90. Either way, I'd call an importer and see what they say. They do this all the time, they know what it takes.

Good luck!
