I hate snow.

I got high-centered trying to leave my driveway and it took 20 minutes to dig it out.

the RX-7 not covered is an 8 GS. its been restored with all oem parts from the dealer. the only modification i made was when i replaced the engine i went with a larger fuel injected 13B engine from an 84 GSL-SE model. i had to remove the entire interior and replace the entire wiring harness with one from a GSL-SE. i custom made a new fuel feed line using aluminum line that i bought as a roll. i also had to use the GSL-SE fuel tank. i did install poly bushings all around and installed tokico blue shocks and struts in the car. its a fun little car to drive. its normally garaged but this year i got my 1963 Ford Falcon out of storage and its in the garage with my Corvette.. at least until i finish fixing what i need to fix.

here's a thread showing the step by step restoration of my 85 GS:

this is the car under the tarp. its my next Mazda restoration:

i didn't sell the 944. it just got put on the back burner after we bought the new house. i drove it here and there over the summer and even though the paint is pretty ratty, people still seemed to love the car. i did install new front struts on the car that i got from Travis. a world of difference in handling. found my sticking steering was from underlubed u-joints in the steering shafts. after i fixed those issues the car drive a lot better. like a whole new car really. now after installing the front struts, i realize how soft the rear shocks are. they are new but are terrible. the car squats in the rear under acceleration. next project is to find new rear shocks. also need to get some new tires and deal with the fuse panel's bad solder joints.. this will make the car much nicer to own if i don't have to play with the wiring under the dash to get my lighting system to work i'm plugging away as much as i can on the car. i put a lot of work into my 94 Corvette over the summer.. sold my turbo RX-7 and put money into the house and bought some Corvette parts (clutch, opti-spark, coil, ICM, plugs, wires..the usual stuff that goes bad with the LT1). but i will keep collecting new parts for the 944 and in the spring when i bring it back home i hope to continue to improve the car. it has a lot of sentimental value to me.

Van, how is your 911 in the snow?? its surprising to see someone driving one in the winter months. most owners store them. i commend you good sir! i got stuck in my wife's van in the driveway a few days ago.. i dug the sucker out and called the kid down the street to come and ply the driveway with his tractor.

The 996 is really awesome in the snow. I have a spare set of wheels with winter tires (which makes a world of difference). It's traction, especially with the rear engine, is phenomenal. Ground clearance is its only issue. It's also nice that it has traction control and stability management.

Of course everyone thinks I'm a nut, but I love the 996 and try to drive it as much as possible (it currently has 159k miles).

my buddy drive his 996 daily, year round, snow, ice, sun he doesn't care

944's squat under accel from factory, it's weight transfer to help with traction.

Van, to be honest if i were in your shoes i would drive the car year round as well. i would guess that's one of the major reasons why Porsche built the Carrera 4, so owners could enjoy the car in any season. i backed my Corvette out of the garage last night so that we cold pull my brother in law's car in and replace the wheels in heat, light, and comfort. needless to say, i will not be driving that death trap in the winter, lol. this is as far as it got in the snow, lol:

perhaps i should invest in a Carrera 4..
