Rapid help please! Doing timing belt - flywheel lock not lining up

Curious to know why you're using a flywheel lock when doing the timing belt.

the videos and such said to, although i found later that i could leave the crank pulley on so it wasnt needed. still made me feel better for the first time doing it haha
