If the 944 and 951 weren't listed on the Getrag website, who built the 944 and 951 transaxles? ZF? Or was it a Porsche in-house arrangement? Which I doubt..since Porsche and many other companies are assemblers of existing and compatible components bought elsewhere, and combined into a singular chassis.

Nice work on the swap!
The V6 is a natch from the packaging perspective. It should make for a better balanced car overall than an LS. Good luck with the build!
My 1.8T swap is almost done... a swap project is not for the faint-hearted or undermotivated.
As far as replacing that 'modern' 944 engine with an 'archaic' GM product... I'll call bullsh*t.
Save for the OHC, nothing modern or sophisticated about the 944 item.
Heavy and bulky, and an expensive pain in the *** to work on. The rest of the car is brilliant, and it lets it down.

The engine is a GM LY7 from a Holden Commodore. Weighs about 170 kg. The output is 195 kw and with an aftermarket ecu and a few other changes should get to 220kw, a little less than double the original. With the weight saving the car should be quite lively. There are loads of these motors all over the world and are in general reliable as long as you change the oil regularly, the same as most modern engines.
I used a GM auto bell housing, custom adapter, Commodore heavy duty clutch, 944 turbo fly wheel and GM V8 concentric slave. The only mod was a cut to the oil pan and I have made a new inlet plenum as the original was too large and heavy. It will require a small bonnet bump as I was unwilling to alter the suspension geometry.

I used a set of long tube manifolds from a parted out Commodore utility.
They are not a perfect fit. The left hand required a tweek to clear the rear front wishbone mounting point but the drivers side required the outer tube to be relocated to clear the steering shaft. See the photo below. Would have been much easier to have stuck with the cast iron manifold and just had one tube to deal with but you loose about 10kw and the sound isn't that good.
Still needs some work to make it all clear properly.
