Default 968 engine in an early 944 - tach issue

My friend and I just finished a 968 engine swap in a '85 944. The car runs and drives but we could not make the tach work. I did some search in the forum but could not find a solution to the problem. Does anybody have any solution or suggestions towards a solution?

We could have not completed the conversion without the information shared in this forum! Big Thanks to the members of Rennlist!

The early tach setup is pretty simple - there's a 12v, an earth, and the tach pulse, plus on cars with an MPG gauge there's a connection to the speedometer. I can dig out a gauge and take pics / test if you want.

Check you're getting tach signal from Pin 2 through to the wire at the gauge. I don't know what tools you have, but a scope would be ideal. I worked it out through a process of elimination when I went to 924 white/red gauges. You may blow a few fuses if you're not careful, but it worked out ok for me.
