I'm considering going to 16" wheels for my 944S as it's getting very hard to find any selection of tires for the original 15" wheels. Considering the 16s all around - 8" Width with 30mm Offset (and probably tires 245/50/16). Will these fit well or could I have rubbing-issues ...Wheels on suspension &/or Tires on wheel-arches? ...Thanks in advance for any input.

What wheels are you considering? Are you sure the offset is 30mm?
"early" 82-86 944's have a ~23mm offset 15x7 wheel.
"late" 87&up 944's have a ~52mm offset 15x7 wheel.
Offsets are subject to change depending on exactly which wheels we are referring to, but they are usually around those specs, even for 16's also.
If you have a 944S, then your car is "late" offset with the higher offset wheels. If you try to fit "early" offset wheels on your car then you are adding 30mm of offset and your tires will exceed past the fenders (especially if you want to run 245/50/16. You can probably get away with stretching on some 205/50/16 and have them not rub the fenders, but it will still look goofy.
Try to find wheels that are produced for 87 & up 944's and most 89 & up 911's and they should all bolt on without any rub issues no sweat. Porsche also sacrificed a bit of offset for larger width too so you can run really wide wheels and tires and still not worry about rubbing.

For later Turbo models (and possibly S2) didn't they go to a 16" (Phone-dial) with 7" front & 8" rear? If so, any idea what those offsets were?
I always find the Offset/Backspace issue a little confusing ...I currently have 225/60/15 tire on the 15 x 7 Phone-dials which you indicate have 52mm offset (negative or positive?) The wheels I'm considering were actually made for Porsche to provide as an option on 911s (with 30mm offset perhaps it was for earlier years ...I'll try to verify). I would assume the offset would be in same direction (Neg or Pos) as stock wheels.
So, if I go to this 8" wheel don't I want to decrease offset by a further 13mm which increases backspace by same to move wheel back further into the well (not outward)? ...or do I have everything backwards?

...sorry, hard to change thinking after many years being wrong about Offset-definition ...I believe I see what you mean ...these wheels would be perfect for earlier models but on late model like mine this offset moves front-edge of wheel outward too far to accomadate the 245/50/16s ...wonder if there'd still be enough clearance for 225/50/16s (without rolling fenders)?
