ok so i drove 15 miles to my buddy's shop to show him the noise and now its gone completely lol i remember when the noise was coming is when the car was cold

Nice trade for an E30..
I trust the 951 is a much more better driver's car?

If the cold affects the noise then, changing to a new set of the correct heat range plugs would certainly eliminate that element from the equation...

From the summitracing.com page: ( for newbies like me who come here to learn stuff)
"Heat range is the speed at which a spark plug can transfer heat from the firing tip to the cylinder head water jacket and into the cooling system. Choosing the right heat range is crucial for high performance engines. If the heat range is too cold, the spark plug will be unable to properly self-clean by burning off carbon deposits..."

i honestly didnt know that and oh yea the porsche is much better haha.. thanks again mikey i appreciate all the help ill let you know what happens when i change the plugs

well im using 10w50 pennzoil but its been doing it before that. i changed the plugs and wires to what it should have and it still makes that same sound but the car does run 100x times better now

944's dont have rockers. they have hydraulic lifters

They are quite solid as 26 year old cars still running provide testament to..

As you've noted, the correct plugs/wires now providing 100 times better running, means that the sound is definitely pinging/detonation; fuel metering; carbon arcing.
I'll wager you a free lunch.. (KFC or ARBIES)

Let us know the official diagnosis, we are all on your side.

thanks mikey... i was told from the 944 turbo facebook group that it might be a sticker lifter or a vacuum leak but im not sure
