Default Have you seen these wheel locks before?

I saw these at the wrecking yard. I've never seen this style before, I've only seen the factory style that uses a key, and the later style that uses a round nut with grooves and a special socket with matching humps.

These look like they use a socket that goes inside the nut, and I guess there's a cap that screws over the nut?

I'd love to see a wheel lock that's too hard for a thief to bother with. The older factory locks with tumblers are easy to drill, and it looks like the later ones with special sockets can just be taken off with a bolt extractor but I've never tried it.

Those look like the McGard wheel locks.

Yep those look the same. The site says they're cone seat nuts.

These will be going on my car after I refinish my Fuchs.

^ Those look nice, but they are cone seat as well! Porsche wheels are ball seat. I like the design though, hopefully they make a ball seat nut version.

A buddy of mine has those on his Miata, he has never had an issue with them.

I have them on my 944 with a ball seal so they should be fine.

They also saved my wheels (and more!) one time when someone tried to steal my wheels. However, I didn't notice until after making a 120 mile trip. To make it worse, my front right wheel was held on by only the wheel lock!

It did explain those occasional vibrations at speed, tho...

OMG! That's nuts!

Maybe I should keep some spare lug nuts in the trunk...

Fortunately, I had the factory locks in my glove box that I never got rid of so when I got back to the hotel I decided to put two locks on per wheel.
