Default Cheap-o HID eBay kit... Hit or Skip??

Has anybody had experience with this cheapo HID kit from eBay??

http://www.ebay.com/itm/6000K-XENON-...1b090d&vxp=mtr

Now any car I've owned that did NOT have HID's, I converted them.-- with projectors/ lenses/ etc... the proper way.

Since I do not daily my 951, and I do not use it for the winter months, it is probably on the road at night a few times a year. -- For this reason I don't see the point of getting a ~$200 kit, or spending the man hours on a piece by piece conversion a la kbull (https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...or-lights.html)

What do you guys think? Go for it??? Or leave the factory lights alone??

THANKS!

I would skip. Ebay is full of garbage, and you get what you pay for...When I upgrade mine, this is what I'll use: http://www.rennbay.com/complete-ecod...944-p-156.html

General concensus is skip it, especially the cheap stuff on eBay. You're better off upgrading with one of the rennbay or similar kits.

skip. those projectors really suck for aiming light. i have em. good enough for driving a track car around, but def wouldn't do for a daily driver.

Get some Ecodes and a harness kit, that will be more than enough.

Please don't run HID's in regular housings. Thats a dick move imo.

Agreed, what is the point of running a hid bulb without the projector lens. It might be a little brighter but the light is just scattered everywhere. Halogen lenses are reflectors, hid lenses are not.

+1. The freeway is miserable enough without having to stare into obnoxious scattered blue light from the other side of the median or in the rearview mirror.

I use my fog lights all the time as daytime driving lights and at dawn/dusk they are actually plenty of light, but I would like to use the "Euro" side of the foglight housing. I should look into that.

I also agree on the high level of crap on ebay.

I say go for it. I might order a set for my early car. I highly doubt they can be worse than whats in there now. A candle taped to my bumper would probably give me more light.

Trucks 6' high, lights blinding me. I say fight fire with fire. Cut me off at night, bring your sunglasses. All that unfocused light makes all reflectors come alive. Not for the stock look weekend driver, modded updated rides fit this look. IMO. Whether to go cheap or not is up to you, I'm on my second ballast from the cheezbay. Can't say I saved any money or time going the cheap route.

I agree completely. However doesn't the eBay item I attached use the projector? I was basing it off the title "6000K XENON HID+DIAMOND 7" ROUND PROJECTOR BLACK HEADLIGHTS+CITY LAMP PAIR SET" ...

could you please explain what you mean by "regular housing" vs. "projector"? I've always found full plug n'play kits for my other vehicles and assumed this was the same way.

Ok I will admit it....I have considered buying a ebay special set to try them.

I know I know, the ones on rennbay would be better, no doubt. But I doubt they are 5 times better/brighter, and they are 5 times the price. Then again, they may very well last 5 times as long.

Sylvania H6024XV (the low end replacement) are $15.99 each at Autozone. So what $32.00 at Autozone, Ebay set for $62.00 with shipping, or the 'top shelf' Rennbay set for $235.00. To each his own, I am watching and would like to hear how these turn out.
