manual rack tie rod ends
Hey guys quick question.
Sorry on my iphone search options limited.
I have a manual rack on my 86 from a 83. Autozone shows same part number for tie rod end and I know they are different. The manual rack uses male ends, Aitozone PN shows a female end like the 86.
Anyone have a PN that is correct for the manual rack handy?
Thanks for looking.
Edit...I really need one BAD...any help much appreciated.

The tie rod ends on genuine Porsche manual tie rods are male.
There are VW tie rods that fit directly to the Porsche 944 manual rack and accept female (power) tie rod ends (as shown). This is a stronger and MUCH cheaper alternative to genuine tie rods / ends IMHO.
I can get 'em for you, just hit me up.

Thanks Travis, so I have VW rods with PS ends on my manual rack, never knew that. Why do they show female ends on the manual racks in PET? Generic picture?

Thanks to all who replied. Just ordered one out of Nashville. Hopefully will be here in time for me to still do the Octoberfest run we have on Saturday.
Travis tried Rennbay several times, left a voicemail first thing this morning. No answer or call back but still interested in the rods you have as a long term fix to these rare manual racks. I love mine, and plan to keep it forever. Send me a PM or something when things slow down there.

Make sure the Vendor is actually sending a male thread 944.347.333.01 and not rolling it into 171.419.812 or 477.419.815 as those are both female thread.

Just an update for those who go down this same road....
I put on the correct tie rod end just to find out that one on my inner tie rod ends was also out of specs for a front end alignment.
The replacement outer for the manual rack was around $35 shipped IIRC.
Ended up buying a set of the VW tie rods from Travis at Rennbay.
These were around $38 bucks each and were complete rods to include angle outer ends. After putting them on, having the car aligned, and putting it through some curves I can say this is the route to go. Car handles great again. And now when I need to replace the outers I can hit Autozone for the $16 ones that the power rack uses.
If you find yourself in this situation give Travis a call and swap the whole thing out like I did. The only reason I can see someone not wanting to take this route would be a 'got to keep my car OEM' look die hard. But to each his own.
Thanks again Travis.
