Default overheating problem

Have a 1985.5 with an overheating problem.
replaced the thermostat, replaced the water pump.

Fans dont seem to be kicking on. They do with the AC switch.
jumpered pins 1-2 no fans operation (thermo switch)
jumpered pins 2-3 fans work (thermo switch)

no heat either.

any help would be appreciated.

It should be jumper pins 1 and 3, not 1 and 2. So you probably want to test that. If you did and that's a typo then it is your relay, if you jump 3 and 1 and fans work it is your thermo switch.
Just replaced mine and it's not that hard, although it is fiddly and messy, and you need a 29mm deep socket. My 29mm socket cost about $50 and was ridiculously hard to source quickly

Cheers Pauly, the guys at my local total tools hooked me up. When the supplier failed to ship one, they rang and it had gone to back order, even though we checked supply when placing order. The manager sourced one and picked it up personally, as my car was already on ramps, drained and good to go, and got it for me within hours. Was stoked they helped me out as was last day of my holidays, so couldn't wait another day to get one

sorry it was pins 1 - 3. An the fans do not come on.

Anyone have a schematic of the fan relay? or know which pins to energize to make it click?

Here you go.

You might be able to find a thread I had on how to bench test it. I think the title was "Inside the cooling fan relay" or something like that.
